The material of the mouthpiece does not offer bacteria a good breeding ground. Nevertheless, the silicone comes into contact with saliva and thus various microorganisms which, in case of doubt, can multiply in optimal conditions.
To prevent bacterial growth after teeth whitening at home and to keep the material supple for a long time, you can brush the splint with your toothbrush and a small dab of toothpaste after each use. Then wash off the remains with clear water and let the splint dry well. Then she is ready for the next teeth whitening.
Note: You do not need any special cleaning agents such as braces cleaner, certain tabs or disinfectants to clean your mouthpiece.
When you've finished cleaning the aligner after home bleaching, you can simply stow it away. Make sure that it is completely dry before packing it away and find a place with low humidity and out of direct sunlight for storage. Heat can make the material brittle and discolour.
