Supplementary dental insurance is an option for many people, especially in old age. This expands the proportion of costs covered by insurance and thus reduces the proportion of personal costs. Supplemental dental insurance is used in particular for broken or missing teeth. With this type of tooth damage, crowns, bridges made of metal or optically more attractive ceramic plates are often used to let the teeth and thus the smile shine again completely and beautifully.
Dental insurance prices vary from provider to provider. Finanztip.de compared some providers and came up with the cheapest monthly amount of 22 €. It should be noted, however, that most providers adjust the amounts to the respective age of the insured person. For example, with the Huk ZZ Pro90 at the age of 37 you still pay a contribution of €22, while at the age of 57 you already pay €35. These increasing prices are often mentioned in the concluded contracts and are therefore also legal. Of course, there are also insurance companies that do not have increasing premiums, but these are disproportionately expensive.
In principle, everyone can only answer this question for themselves. However, we can offer a few tips that may make the decision easier. Supplementary dental insurance is particularly worthwhile for those who expect to have brittle or particularly bad teeth later on. It is important, however, that the treating dentist must not have made a corresponding diagnosis, otherwise the insurance benefits will decrease. Although the contribution tends to be lower for young people, the benefits covered by the insurance are often not used at all. So it's worth waiting a bit.
At OnlySmile, we recommend making a small monthly contribution, especially when you are young, to a call money account that pays good interest. This means that any treatments that may arise can initially be taken over by yourself. You can then switch to insurance later. Pro tip: Automate the setting aside as a standing order as soon as you receive your salary. This way you don't have a chance of accidentally spending the money and you don't have to think about it again and again.
